The most characterful stay within easy reach of the bridge. This Grade II-listed Baroque Revival building opened in 1906 as the Tower Bridge Magistrates’ Court and police station, designed by the Edwardian architect John Dixon Butler, and was converted into a hotel in 2019. The conversion is unusually literal about its past: the Courtroom Bar occupies the original courtroom with a counter built from the judge’s bench, and Provisioners restaurant sits in the former cell yard, with two original holding cells worked into the dining room. Rooms are compact but well-designed.
